If there’s one place that keeps me in Arizona its sunshine, serenity, and incredible resorts. Between Scottsdale’s luxury resorts, Sedona’s red‑rock panoramas, and Flagstaff’s cool mountain air, this state delivers some of the most spectacular vacations in the Southwest. In this blog, I set out on two very different journeys—one a luxury golf and spa retreat in Scottsdale, the other a scenic, multi‑city Arizona resort & golf adventure through Phoenix, Sedona, and Flagstaff.
Both itineraries reminded me why Arizona is a dream destination for golfers, spa lovers, and travelers who crave a blend of relaxation and adventure.

Desert Elegance: My Luxury Golf & Spa Retreat in Scottsdale
I wanted a getaway that felt indulgent from the moment I arrived—sun‑drenched mornings, championship golf, and evenings filled with desert calm. Scottsdale delivered all of it.
Where I Stayed
I checked into The Phoenician, one of Scottsdale’s premier luxury golf resorts. Sanctuary Camelback Mountain was another contender, and honestly, you can’t go wrong with either. Both offer sweeping Sonoran Desert views, world‑class spas, and that signature Scottsdale blend of elegance and tranquility.

Day 1: Troon North Golf Club – Monument Course
My first round was at Troon North, one of the top golf courses in Scottsdale. The Monument Course winds through massive boulders and pristine desert terrain. It’s the kind of course where every hole feels like a postcard.
Day 2: Grayhawk Golf Club – Talon Course
Next up was Grayhawk’s Talon Course, known for its dramatic desert washes and strategic layout. It’s challenging in the best way—rewarding precision and creativity.
Day 3: We‑Ko‑Pa Golf Club – Saguaro Course
I couldn’t resist adding an optional round at We‑Ko‑Pa, consistently ranked among the best public golf courses in Arizona. The Saguaro Course has no homes, no distractions—just pure desert golf framed by mountain views.
Spa Day: Desert‑Inspired Relaxation
After three days of golf, I treated myself to a full spa day back at the resort. Think desert clay wraps, aromatherapy, and quiet rooms that feel like sanctuaries. Scottsdale’s spa scene is unmatched.
Dining: Scottsdale’s Best Culinary Experiences
My evenings were just as memorable:
A chef’s tasting menu at elements, where the flavors echo the desert landscape.
A classic Scottsdale steakhouse experience at Mastro’s, perfect after a long day on the fairways.
Cultural Add‑Ons
I carved out time for:
Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert masterpiece
The Desert Botanical Garden, a must‑see for anyone who loves the Sonoran landscape
Optional Bucket‑List Moment
A sunrise hot air balloon ride over the desert. Floating above the saguaros as the sky turned gold was the highlight of the entire trip.

Legends & Landscapes: My Scenic Arizona Golf Adventure
My second itinerary was all about movement—road‑tripping through Arizona’s most iconic landscapes while playing some of the state’s most memorable courses.
Phoenix: Starting at the Arizona Biltmore
I began at the historic Arizona Biltmore, a resort with deep architectural roots and a timeless desert‑luxury vibe. It’s the perfect launch point for a multi‑city Arizona golf trip.
Sedona: Red Rocks & Fairways
The drive from Phoenix to Sedona is one of the most beautiful in the state. I checked into Enchantment Resort, tucked into Boynton Canyon, where the red rocks glow at sunrise and sunset.
Golf at Sedona Golf Resort was surreal—every hole framed by towering red formations. It’s one of the most scenic golf courses in Arizona.

Flagstaff: Mountain Air & Pine‑Lined Fairways
From Sedona, I drove through Oak Creek Canyon, stopping at:
Montezuma Castle National Monument
The hillside mining town of Jerome
In Flagstaff, I stayed at Little America Hotel, though a bespoke cabin would’ve been just as magical.
Golf options included:
Forest Highlands Golf Club (private, but unforgettable if you can access it)
A return to the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club if looping back toward Phoenix
Adventure Add‑Ons
This itinerary is perfect for travelers who love mixing golf with exploration:
Sedona Jeep tour for red‑rock adventure
Stargazing at Lowell Observatory
Exploring Route 66 nostalgia
Visiting Meteor Crater or the Petrified Forest National Park
Why These Arizona Golf Itineraries Work
Both trips blend:
Luxury accommodations
Top‑ranked Arizona golf courses
Scenic drives and natural wonders
Spa experiences and chef‑driven dining
Cultural and historical highlights

Whether you’re planning a Scottsdale golf vacation, a Sedona getaway, or a multi‑city Arizona road trip, these itineraries offer the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, and world‑class golf.
